8th Grade Curriculum

Language & Literacy

  • Reading: Synthesizing genres, rhetorical analysis, and refining voice and style.
  • Writing: Capstone research project including a thesis, analysis, and presentation.

Math & Science

  • Numeracy: Pre-Algebra/Algebra (functions, slope-intercept, systems, exponents).
  • Logic: Geometry foundations (transformations, congruence, Pythagorean theorem).
  • Inquiry: Physical science (forces, motion, energy) and experimental design with evidence.

Social Studies & Development

  • Civics: U.S. history (Founding to Reconstruction), constitutional principles, and economics/budgeting.
  • Skills: High-school readiness (organization, self-advocacy), digital ethics, and service capstone.
  • Physical: Creating a lifetime fitness plan, health literacy, and mentoring younger students.

Faith & Discipleship

  • Core: Full Confession of Faith (Creation, Redemption, Sanctification) and hope in the resurrection.
  • Catechism: Plain teaching of the Commandments with biblical compassion, chastity, and grace.
  • Worship: Understanding the Office of the Keys, worthy reception of the Lord’s Supper, and leading younger students in worship.
