Why should I choose Grace Lutheran School for my four-year-old’s Pre-K year?
For 40 years, families in our community have trusted Grace to provide an exceptional and well-rounded early education. Our Pre-K program ensures your four-year-old thrives physically, mentally, and socially as they prepare for Kindergarten. At the heart of our classroom is a loving, faith-filled atmosphere centered on the promise that the Father made us, and the Spirit makes us part of God’s family.
What academic skills do the four-year-olds focus on?
We dive into early literacy with letter-sound awareness, rhyming, and speaking in complete sentences. Kids learn to draw and dictate their own stories. For math, they learn to count to 20, identify shapes like hexagons, and use nonstandard tools to compare weight and length.
Will my child learn to write?
Yes! Our four-year-olds practice cutting along lines and begin tracing and writing some uppercase letters, including their own first name.
What physical skills are they developing?
They are constantly moving and refining their gross motor coordination by learning to hop on one foot, gallop, and start skipping patterns.
How do they grow socially and emotionally?
Kids learn to sustain play with their friends and follow multi-step routines. We help them name their emotions and use teacher-guided problem-solving steps. They also build attention spans of 10 to 15 minutes and become highly independent in clean-up and toileting.
How does the faith curriculum work in Pre-K?
We teach the children that the Father made them, Jesus died and rose to forgive them, and the Spirit makes them part of God’s family. They learn positive versions of the Commandments, practice daily confession , and trace amazing salvation stories from Creation all the way to the Resurrection.
