Our Age 2 Preschool program at Grace Lutheran School in Sandy, Utah is designed to support the rapid growth and boundless curiosity of toddlers in a safe, loving, and Christ-centered environment.
Why should I choose Grace Lutheran School for my preschooler?
For the past 40 years, Grace has been serving the local families and offering a balanced early childhood program that nurtures your child’s physical, cognitive, and social-emotional growth. Most importantly, we provide a loving, faith-based environment centered on the foundational truth that Jesus loves us.
What kind of physical activities will they do?
Active play is a daily priority. We help children practice walking steadily, beginning to run, and climbing onto low structures with assistance. They also get to kick and roll balls and explore soft play areas and tunnels to build their balance. To build fine motor skills, they practice stacking blocks, turning book pages, and scribbling using a whole-hand grasp.
How will my toddler develop linguistically?
We help toddlers understand simple, one-step directions and everyday routine words. Your child will build a vocabulary of 50 to 200 words and start combining two words together, like “mama help” or “big truck”. Cognitively, they explore toys, matching items, and engage in simple pretend play all while helping them notice colors and shapes around them.
How do you teach faith to toddlers?
Our focus lies heavily on one big truth: that Jesus loves you. They learn that God made them, Jesus loves them, and the Spirit helps them. We teach loving rules that encourage kindness and obeying, as well as practicing saying “I’m sorry” and knowing that “Jesus forgives me”. The toddlers also learn to fold their hands for prayer and say “Amen,” sing simple choruses, and listen to short Bible stories like Creation, the Good Shepherd, Christmas, and Easter basics.
