Preschool: Age 4 Curriculum

Physical Development

  • Motor Skills: Hopping, galloping, and beginning skipping patterns.
  • Coordination: Cutting curves/lines and writing uppercase letters and first names.

Language & Literacy

  • Communication: Using complete sentences and answering “why/how” questions.
  • Early Reading: Letter-sound awareness, rhyming, and syllable clapping.
  • Expression: Dictating and drawing stories to convey ideas.

Cognitive & Math

  • Numeracy: Counting to 20, comparing sets, and 1-to-1 correspondence to 10.
  • Logic: Identifying complex shapes, extending patterns, and using positional words.

Social & Executive Function

  • Interaction: Sustained peer play and teacher-guided problem-solving.
  • Focus: Attending to tasks for 15 minutes and following multi-step directions.

Faith & Discipleship

  • Core Truth: I am part of God’s family.
  • Foundations: Positive exploration of the Commandments and the sign of the cross.
  • Worship: Learning Lord’s Prayer petitions and following the salvation story.
