Grace Lutheran Church and School has been a part of my life all my life. (click to expand)

I was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church and I attended preschool and grades 1-8 at Grace Lutheran School. After high school graduation, I went to Utah State University (Go Aggies!) and earned a BA in General Studies with an emphasis in FCHD. During two college summers, I was a Kids’ Place assistant. In 2021, I accepted the position as Director of Kids’ Place. I continue to hold that position and have added the PS2 teacher position. I am so happy to extend my role at Grace. The 2024-25 school year has started bringing immense joy and some challenges. I look forward to what lies ahead.

Hello, I am Karen Hague and I am the kindergarten and first grade teacher at Grace Lutheran School. (click to expand)

This is my second year at Grace and my forty-ninth year as an educator. I am a widow and have lived in Salt Lake City for 7 years. I have taught in California, New Mexico, Idaho, Honduras and Utah. In Honduras I served as a teaching missionary, serving in a school that was part of an all girl’s orphanage, I was there from 2007-2012.  I have been a Christian Educator since I was fourteen. When I am not in the classroom teaching or prepping, I am reading – I am in two book clubs. I love being creative! I participate in art classes/workshops through South Salt Lake Arts Council and the Museum of Fine Arts and Aging Programs. I crochet, currently, I have two sweaters and an afghan on the hook. But my passion has become needle felting abstract art pieces. This year I have had two commissioned pieces and art in two juried shows in two different museums.

I was born and raised in the Russian north, so I’m the one who thinks Utah winters are pretty warm. I attended Northern Arctic Federal University pursuing a degree in teaching foreign languages (Russian, English, German, and Latin). I also graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in IT.
