Pastor’s Picks
Pastor Lamont is nearly always listening to something or watching something to build up his faith, exercise his mind, and pass a little time. Here’s what he’s listened to in the past month.
1517 — A Field Guide to the Bible (1517.org)
https://www.1517.org/podcasts/a-field-guide-to-the-bible
Pastor’s note: Knowing the “story arc” of the Bible and the history of God’s people and how He makes and keeps promises is really helpful when understanding the Christian faith. The Lutherans at 1517 produced a 15-episode audio series to point out the major features and highlights of the Biblical narrative.
Concordia Seminary — A Service of Evening Prayer for Advent (youtube.com)
Pastor’s note: Did you know that our seminaries and universities broadcast some of their prayer services and special musical exhibitions? They’re worth subscribing to and listening to some of the beautiful arrangements of vocal and instrumental music that give praise to Jesus. This Advent service is beautiful, perhaps for a quiet evening with the family?
Issues Etc — Your Unanswered Bible Questions (ongoing series) (issuesetc.org)
Pastor’s note: If you have specific questions, it’s always a great idea to ask your own pastor (hint, hint)… but we’ve all got them, and why not share them together? Pastor Brian Kachelmeier and Pastor Bryan Wolfmueller answer questions this month about Revelation 13, the body of Moses after he died, the difference between piety and pietism, and whether the Roman Catholic Church is Christian (and particularly regarding their claim to be THE Church).
